I will be discussing Music notation , Latin styles and much more !!So stay tuned folks
It all begins with the Clave (pronounce "kla veh")The clave is an ancient African beat that gives the celular structure to a particular drum beat, it comes from Nigeria and Congo, we also inherited a variety of hand held percussive instruments such as :Yembe drums (conga like drum ), sencerro (cow bell)guiro (scraper),palitos (wooden sticks)and other instruments. The African tribes give us an inmense variety of ryhtms,so vast that harmony and melodies become a second place event. The aboriginies of South America had only Pentatonic scales ,when extra notes are added it become richer in melodies and harmonics, and the polirytms added a flavour that has trascended to today modern Latin style. We may say that our music was born out of Euro-African-American marriage. We have the harmonically rich Samba, the polyrytms power of a Salsa emsamble, the sensibility of the melodic Tango.the web of Cultures, religion, and idiosincracies continues and thus our music keeps evolving !!
